I was out surveying my garden today, and there were some little flies buzzing around my face, driving me absolutely crazy. So I decided to get out my “Terrashield,” Doterra’s repellent oil blend, and apply some to myself.
First of all, I’ve bought a lot of “natural” bug repellents, and most of them smelled strongly unpleasant, but I continued to use them because I hate DEET. It causes neurological damage, especially to small children.
But this oil blend smells AMAZING! I was happy to slather myself in it, and I enjoyed smelling it while I was outside.
And, yes, it worked wonderfully keeping the flies away!

All I know is, on and off, all spring and summer I get sneezy, runny nose, itchy throat and sometimes itchy eyes. I’ve noticed that it’s worse when the clouds roll in. It doesn’t make any sense to me, but it definitely gets worse when rain is threatening. When I eat too much dairy, my symptoms are exacerbated further.
Luckily, I’ve found something that works. I’ve been taking essential oils in capsules. 3 drops each of lemon, peppermint and lavender. I don’t like tasting lavender, and I have to be in the right mood for peppermint. Read more…

My son had his last baseball game of the season tonight. We do sports about once a year for each child, otherwise our lives are too crazy. Anyway, I decided to take the kids out afterward for some food and dessert at Hogi Yogi. I try not to buy things with white sugar, but we splurge here and there. We ate chicken and brown rice, then frozen pineapple yogurt with raspberries on top. Sounds pretty benign, right?
My stomach started hurting on the way home. I took some enzymes, but they didn’t do much. When I got home I made some chamomile and peppermint tea for my baby, put him to bed and drank a little of the tea myself. That definitely wasn’t enough. Read more…

My sister, Emili, invited me to a meeting a few months ago, to learn about a new company selling essential oils. Just the previous month, I had dropped a wad buying oils from Vickie for my emergency preparedness cabinet.
Essential oils have a pretty long shelf life if they are protected from heat, oxygen and light. So I figured it would be a good investment. With the economy the way it is, I wanted to be prepared with effective tools with which to care for my family. Read more…
